The solution presented at the SID is an overview of the current approach taken by the MAHALO team to develop an AI agent that is also capable of communicating with a human ATCO using a visual representation of the traffic state, called the Solution Space Diagram.
Although we are still too early in the project to provide any conclusions, early indications of its technical feasibility are encouraging.
During the upcoming experiments, Mahalo project will explore the impact of manipulating levels of transparency and conformance on operator acceptance and human-machine interaction.
